About the event
Celebrate Black History Month with us at Design Studio 6 - Detroit, former art studio of Artist Charles McGee, during "Sacred Spaces", a multi-venue tour celebrating Detroit's black-owned and operated arts and cultural spaces. The exhibit will feature Charles McGee original artwork collections and 63 local artists' work inspired by the artist.
Charles McGee’s career spanned 7 decades. He remained true to a practice informed by ‘the energy of life’: interdependence, equality, and connection among all living things. These ideas were the driving force in his life as he moved across artistic styles and media with curiosity over his lifetime. Through his work, McGee encouraged peace, balance, and harmony, with the desire to make the world a better place to live.
